Volunteer Opportunities at Esperanza

Esperanza Health Center has numerous volunteer opportunities, including both clinical and administrative assistance. Volunteers and their abilities range across the spectrum. Past volunteers have included college students, medical students, medical personnel, nurses, missionaries, and others interested in serving God through Esperanza's ministry to the underserved of North Philadelphia.

Below is a summary of current volunteer needs at Esperanza Health Center (please note, clinc hours when we accept volunteers are M - F from 9am - 5pm, no volunteers on Saturdays):

Current Clinical Volunteer Needs

Volunteer RNs:

  • Must have current PA license.
  • Willing to make minimum one-year commitment to volunteering at least one full day per week, on a very consistent basis.
  • Must have at least six months of staff nurse experience in a hospital setting.
  • Interest in phone/walk-in triage, or interest in updating and organizing policy and procedure manuals.

Volunteer Student Nurses or Pre-Med Students:

  • Willing to make minimum six-month commitment to volunteering at Esperanza, at least two half-days or one full day per week, on a consistent basis.
  • Interest in working in pediatrics or with head nurse on administrative tasks.

Current Administrative Volunteer Needs

Assistance is currently needed to support patient records management, quality assurance, and other general administrative/clerical needs. We are seeking volunteers who can commit to serving 1/2 - 1 day per week, or more, on a consistent basis. Knowledge of MS Word/Excel helpful; Spanish language ability not required.
